Building The Best Foam Generator
Below are graphics that depict a general overview of the configuration & components necessary to build your own homemade foam generator.
The foam wand is generally constructed out of 1 1/4″ pvc pipe. Pvc caps are glued onto each end with pvc glue. Holes are drilled and threaded on each end. 5-6 fine grade stainless steel wool scrubbing pads are inserted into the pipe to create the foam as the soap solution is forced through the wand via air from an air compressor. Note: you’ll want to use stainless steel and regular steel wool will rust.
There are two different designs. The first in the above graphic shows that a pump is used to transport the solution from a bucket or barrel through the wand. The second design is pump-less and entails filling an enclosed pvc tube/tank with the foam solution. Air from the air compressor air creates pressure in the tank and forces the solution out from the other end of the tank through tubing to the wand.
Material List includes:
- PVC pipe 1 1/4″, PVC caps, PVC glue
- Fine stainless steel scrubbing pads
- connectors, 3 way Y tube connector, tubing (1/4″ ID 3/8″ OD)
- pump (if you elect that design) Aquatec 60-90 psi 1.5-1.7 gpm
- valves to open and close flow
- foaming agent & bucket (drexel, suave, 7th generation, dawn)
- air compressor (90 PSI 2.5cfm)
- drill (min. 8-9 amp)
- threading tap bit to make holes in pvc for connectors
